The rock extracted is a fine-grained granite, quartz, feldspar, biotite (yellow) with Olivine crystals. It is a very hard rock with high abrasion resistance.

The quarry operation results in different types of rock:

  • Dimensional Blocks
  • Semi-blocks (kerbs and paving cubes)
  • Waste Rock (aggregates)

The quarry is equipped with several machines, namely:

LOCATION

The White Chibia granite quarry and Marlin’s industrial complex is located ca. 16 km/9 miles south of Chibia, in southern Angola’s Province of Huíla and 50 km/31 miles south of Lubango, Huíla’s capital city and nearest airport.

To reach the quarry, follow the interstate roadway that leads to Namibia’s border (400 km/ 248 miles to the south), and find the intersection ca. 3 km/1 mile after leaving Chibia, next to an irrigation canal.

The dirt road leading to the quarry is ca. 11 km/ 6 miles long but in excellent condition due to Marlin’s annual maintenance work.

Staff office and living quarters are located on the same road ca. 3 km/1 mile before reaching the actual quarry.

The nearest sea port is in Namibe, 250 km/155 miles to the West.
